Franz Braumann

Eine Heimat am See [A lakeland home]

Tales from seven decades

Publisher: Christoph Braumann

Franz Braumann (1910-2003), one of the most successful and best-known Salzburg writers of his day, was born into a farming family in the village of Huttich am Wallersee, among the Alpine foothills of Salzburg. Over 100 published books – some also in translations, as well as poems, stories, articles and travelogues – testify to his versatility as regional and travel writer, storyteller and author of books for young people. He was awarded numerous literature prizes and distinctions, both at home and abroad.
Here, his son Christoph Braumann has made an anthology of his writings – from stories and legends to biographies, travelogues and modern socio-critical topics. While his themes and photographs range worldwide, his heart remains close to home, where he found inspiration in the lakeland region around the Wallersee, and the scent of apple-trees.
This book traces Franz Braumann's personal and literary journey through life, introducing the reader to the range and versatility of his work.
