Schwimmende Gärten / Floating Gardens [Floating Gardens]

Publisher: Johannes J. Kraus

At the International Horticultural Exhibition (IGA), which is held in Germany every ten years, a whole array of unique exhibits awaits an expected number of some 2.5 million visitors. More than 30 countries from all over the world present impressive components of their own horticulture. The “Floating Gardens”, on some 4.200 m2 of pontoons, constitute a distinctive highlight of the Exhibition. Horticulture and the sea form a unique and fantastic symbiosis. The Gardens offer a striking silhouette which does justice to the river entrance and conveys the serene, festive ambience of the exhibition.

The successful realization of the Floating Gardens is thanks to the persistence and persuasiveness of architect Johannes Kraus and his team, who have assumed a leading role in pursuing new methods of landscape and engineering architecture.
