Alfred Berghammer

Reise-Tagebuch eines Pilgers [A pilgrim's travel journal]

90 days on the Way of St. James from Salzburg to Santiago de Compostela

The Road to Santiago has been described many times. The unusual feature of this journey is the chosen route – not the much-frequented Camino Francés through the northern highlands of Spain, but the tranquil scenic paths along the Atlantic coast. Alfred Berghammer describes his experiences on a three-month pilgrimage over 2,700 kilometres, from Salzburg to Santiago de Compostela.
He set off in early spring, and portrays some of the most beautiful regions of Austria, Switzerland and France which he passed through before reaching Spain in the full bloom of early summer.
With wry humour, the author relates the ups and downs of his journey. The splendid photographs may well tempt the reader to don hiking boots and explore this less-travelled way for themselves.
